Lessons in The Alexander Technique can improve health, performance, and vitality, and help you to get more out of life!
Alexander Technique LessonsThe purpose of the Alexander Technique Lesson is to un-learn your bad habits, so that your natural good use can be re-established, and as everyone’s habits are different, it requires one to one work with a teacher. The
Alexander lesson incorporates explanation, and hands-on guidance,
taking you through
movements and activities to help
you rediscover balance and ease within yourself. Beginning with
simple movements and positions - such as sitting, walking, or bending the
knees, you learn how your coordination works - how you create
tension and how you can prevent or release it. This
awareness enables you to change long-standing habits and function more
efficiently. In time and with practice you will be able to use your new
understanding and skill in more complex and demanding activities and
situations in your daily life. You can bring awareness and poise to
anything that you do. When you come to a n Alexander Technique lesson you will need to wear loose comfortable clothing, and ladies should wear trousers rather than skirts or dresses. The cost is currently £ 30.00 for a forty minute lesson, and £35.00 for an introductory lesson. Some pupils like to have a 55 minute lesson which costs £35 "Change involves carrying out an activity against the habit of life" F M Alexander Please
note that Alexander teachers, although highly trained, are not medical
advisors and do not make medical diagnoses.

We are both members of The Society of Teachers of The Alexander Technique (STAT), the professional body that regulates the teaching of the Alexander Technique and training of Alexander Teachers. If you would like to know more, click on the link below: STAT Alexander Teachers do not cure or heal, we teach a better way of using ourselves, and we certainly don't make any claims. But there have been remarkable improvements in problems as diverse as arthritis, bad back, pain, RSI, breathing problems, persistent headache, migraine, and general problems with, knees, ankles, hips, scoliosis, sciatica, stress, ME chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and a whole lot more. Please note that we teach individual Alexander lessons - we will only instruct groups or classes on the understanding that they are introducing the principles and not teaching the alexander Technique. It's not all about health problems either - people come for Alexander Lessons to improve their abilities and skills in activities as diverse as dancing, singing, public speaking, rowing (the British team that won the Olympic gold medal had Alexander Lessons), dressage (them too!) horse riding, archery, and playing a musical instrument. Anything that involves using the whole self from juggling for jugglers to acting for actors will benefit by improving what alexander called 'The Use of the Self.' Even if you aren't an opera singer (yes them too) but spend your time looking after children or sitting at a computer, tit is likely that you will see some improvement in what you do by learning the Alexander Technique! The area covered by our practice includes Aller, Axeminster, Bridgewater, Bristol, Bridport, Bruton, Castle Cary, Chard, Crewkerne, Dorset, England, Glastonbury, Ilminster, Hatch Beauchamp, Langport, Martock, Sherbourne, Somerset, Somerton, Sparkford, Street, Taunton, UK, Wells, Wellington, Wincanton, Yeovil, South Petherton and most villages in South Somerset. |
